Golden Retriever Breeders

It all started in early 1999 with a co-ownership of now Champion Maltcairn’s Digby Shines, between Bruce Brown and Louise Grant of Maltcairn Kennels in Orillia, Ontario, Canada.

Introduction to other Golden Retriever Breeders soon followed. This brought together the foundation stock for Goldnote Golden Retrievers, from Karin Klouman of Kyon Kennels, Shelburne, Linda Willard of Highmark Golden Retrievers, Tennessee and Certified Professional Handler Colin Brownlee of Barrie.

Now over ten years later Goldnote Golden Retrievers has produced a growing number of happy Golden Retriever companion dogs across Canada and the United States. Many titled obedience dogs, certified therapy canines and conformation champions grace our ranks.

Both Judi and Bruce are members of the: Canadian Kennel Club, Barrie Kennel and Obedience Club, and Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers, and adhere to the code of ethics of the Golden Retriever Club of Canada.

Bruce K. Brown

Bruce K. Brown was born and raised on a farm in rural Ontario’s, Medonte Township. Animals have always been a significant part of his life. Normally dangerous situations for a five year old boy -like petting the ram or picking up baby lambs, piglets, chicks, ducklings or talking to new born calves- never seemed to upset any animal Mothers. However, Bruce’s own Mother may have been upset once or twice.

Bruce’s ability to make friends with any animal has never changed. Instead, it has grown into a life’s passion and study. Bruce has bred and titled numerous of his own dogs in all levels of CKC Rally Obedience, Canine Good Neighbour Certification and Conformation.

After many years of being told “you should be teaching classes” Bruce has made it a reality and now offers All-Breed Dog Training Classes in Puppy and Adult Manners, Rally Obedience, Canine Good Neighbour Certification and Behaviour Modification, for fearful or reactive (aggressive) dogs.

Judi Plewes

Judi Plewes makes everything run smoothly at Goldnote! Following her retirement, after 18 years as an executive assistant, she turned her attention to life-giving pursuits and made us the benefactors of her talent and skill.

Her love of dogs and animals has transformed Judi into a skilled trainer who titled Lily, Aria, Karma and Jewels in Rally Obedience and Sempre, Spirit, Aria and Lily in Canine Good Neighbour Certification.

Judi assists many clients in handling, training and caregiving for their puppies. In her spare time she enjoys travelling with her daughters and granddaughters or playing handbells in her home or at church.

Judi is a member of the: Canadian Kennel Club, Barrie Kennel Club, and Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers.

Fan Club Presidents

Three “woofs” for the president!

Three “woofs” for the president!

Marcia and Bruce McCallum are known as “president” and “vice president” respectively of the Goldnote Golden Retrievers Fan Club. All show wins and losses in obedience trials or conformation showing, confirmed pregnancies and puppy births are to be reported immediately to the fan club president!

The McCallums’ boy “Chase”, Goldnote’s Chasing the Dove RN, was the catalyst to a wonderful friendship that began during our first meeting in 2009. We have become a special part of each other’s lives during cottage visits; dog show trips, concerts and wonderful meals shared. A moment of true Grace for Goldnote and our Golden Retrievers!

Joyce and Arie Schaly

Goldnote Golden Retrievers and K9 Training will be forever indebted to Joyce and Arie Schaly. Bruce’s Mom and Step-Dad can be found working tirelessly from April to October building fences, cutting down trees, putting up buildings, planting flowers or cutting grass.

Arie can fix anything and drive everything else, make it look easy and have a great time doing it! Joyce can bathe puppies like a pro, loves the smell of freshly bleached floors (almost as much as Judi does) and delights in finding the best bargains on dog crates during their winter months in Florida.
